Description

It is important to read full product description before ordering:

To order online, both your donor and recipient applications must be listed in the drop-down options. If you cannot find your applications in the drop-downs, contact ORS directly by email for availability/compatibility.

The Off Road Solutions (ORS) 1UZ-FE Conversion Wiring has been developed in conjunction with North West Toys (NWT) since 2016. The 1UZ-FE (4.0L V8) Lexus fuel injection system is entirely different from that of the older Toyota models. This means the 1UZ-FE (1UZ) electronics and circuit will have to be installed in your older vehicle in order to make this engine swap possible. The Off Road Solutions 1UZ Conversion Wiring Harness will provide the donor vehicle engine and transmission control circuits in your older vehicle for use with the Toyota engine 1UZ computer and components.

From the factory, there are 2 primary parts of the OEM 1UZ fuel injection wiring circuit:

The first is the engine wiring harness. This is the harness that is primarily attached to the engine. This is sometimes called the injector harness. This harness connects the engine components such as the fuel injectors, ignition coils, air flow meter, etc. to the engine computer (ECU) and the body harness.

The second part of the 1UZ electronic fuel injection circuit is built into the body wiring, along with the rest of the vehicle’s circuits. The body wiring includes the “under-dash” harness, the engine-bay harness (including fuse box), and even the wiring to the rear. About 40% of the 1UZ fuel injection’s wiring circuit is contained in this harness.

The entire 1UZ fuel injection circuit must be complete in your vehicle. Our conversion wiring will do this in one of two ways, which we call our “Format” option:

  • Our 1UZ Conversion Adapter Harness is designed for applications that have a used, good-condition, fully intact engine wire harness from the donor vehicle. Our Conversion Adapter Harness will connect directly to the engine wire harness and the ECU, and works along with the donor engine wire harness to fully complete the engine wiring circuit. Note: The Adapter Format of our conversion harness will not work with “JDM” engine wiring (from Japanese Domestic Market); our Engine wiring format is recommended with JDM donor engines. Once again, the Adapter version requires the use of donor engine wiring that is fully intact and in good condition; from a North-American-based donor vehicle.
  • Our 1UZ Conversion Engine Wire Harness completely replaces the engine wire harness while also providing the portion of donor engine circuit originally in the body wiring. This harness is a combination of an engine wire harness and an adapter harness and houses 100% of the 1UZ engine circuit in one all-new piece. It is intended for situations when the donor engine wiring is missing, cut or in poor condition; or when all-new wiring is desired. It also works well for JDM import engines since the JDM engine wiring is hard to use in a swap application. Note: the 1UZ Engine Format will include both the knock-sensor, and front-engine sub-wiring-harnesses, all-new.

We offer 2 options regarding the Transmission:

  • Manual Transmission: Use this option when using a manual transmission. This includes a case where the donor or recipient vehicle was originally auto and the engine setup will now be manual.
  • Automatic Transmission: Use this option when using a Toyota automatic transmission. This includes a case where the recipient was originally manual but is now being converted to an automatic transmission. Like the engine circuit, the transmission control circuit was originally split between the body and engine wiring. The Adapter format will include the portion of the transmission control circuit originally placed in the body wiring and the Engine Wire Harness format will include all-new transmission connections.

Automatic Transmission Swaps: The ORS 1UZ Conversion Wiring is designed for use with the donor automatic transmission. For use of an Automatic Transmission from a different application (including recipient), inquire with ORS regarding compatibility.

The ORS 1UZ Conversion Wiring is categorized by Donor Vehicle year/model. When using this drop-down, select the Donor Model and Year based on the donor parts being used, particularly the ECU and Harness.

We also accommodate 4 main Recipient Vehicle types:

  • Our 22R-E/3VZ-E Vehicle option is for ’85-’95 Truck/4Runner and ’93-’94 T100 vehicles that originally had the 3.0L 3VZ-E engine or the fuel injected 22R-E. This version requires that the original body wiring and fuse box are still in place. This will plug directly into the body wiring for a simple install. Very little splicing is required to install this version; it is nearly 100% plug-and-play. The original wiring in your older Toyota will not have to be torn apart, and this version will accommodate your OEM gauges (tachometer will require some additional work during the install), speed sensor, reverse lights, 4×4 system and 4×4 indicator lamp.
  • Our 3RZ/2RZ/5VZ Vehicle option is for ’95-‘04 Tacoma and ’96-’02 4Runner Models, originally equipped with the 2RZ/3RZ-FE or 5VZ-FE engines. This version requires that the original body wiring and fuse box are still in place, and will plug directly into the body wiring for a simple install. A small amount of splicing is required to install this version. The original wiring in your older Toyota will not have to be torn apart, and this version will accommodate your OEM gauges (tachometer will require some additional work during the install), speed sensor, reverse lights, 4×4 system and 4×4 indicator lamp.
  • Our Stand-Alone version is designed for virtually any other vehicle. It works well with carbureted vehicles, other makes, and some race/custom vehicles. This version requires that the vehicle has at least a basic electrical system already in place. This basic system must include: start and ignition switch, charging, fuse/battery and gauge circuits. This will connect to the recipient vehicle through a few simple splices. Note that the Stand-Alone version includes a fuel pump power/control circuit.
  • Our Monster Harness Vehicle option will be used when the vehicle is also using the ORS Monster Wire Harness for completely new body wiring. This recipient type pertains to the Engine Format, where the 1UZ engine harness would feature connectors that plug directly into the ORS Monster Wire Harness for a very simple install with no splicing at all.

Additional Options (Drop Downs):

Recipient 4WD system: An additional charge may be applied for ‘95-’04 Tacoma and ’96-’02 4Runner 4WD Recipient applications. This will be based on specific Model/Year, use of the original Transfer Case and sometimes the use of the original front differential.

A/T => M/T Resistor Set: When using a Manual Transmission with a 1995 or newer 1UZ Donor Engine, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) will be continually present due to the absence of the donor automatic transmission. This will leave the engine light constantly ON. To avoid these codes, ORS offers a Resistor Set, which will connect to engine wiring and simulate the missing transmission components to help avoid these trouble codes. Note that in some cases this will also require the customer to purchase a separate device for speed signal calibration from an outside source.

EGR Delete: The 1990-1997 1UZ Engine Control System utilized an EGR System for emissions requirements. In off-road vehicles where the EGR system is removed, a resistor set or small bypass connector can be added to help eliminate the associated Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

Battery Cable Set: When using the Engine Format of the ORS Conversion Harness, battery cables can be added. These are separate cables, built for length and routing to fit ’79-’95 Truck and 4Runner recipients; with the battery in either front corner of the engine bay. These cables will include new military-style battery terminals.

Note: 1998 and newer donor vehicles were equipped with an immobilizer system. This system cannot be programmed out of a 1UZ ECU. In this case, added circuity is built into the ORS harness to accommodate. When using this donor application, a matching key from the exact same donor vehicle (matching ECU) must be used. In addition, the key ring (amplifier) from the donor immobilizer system must also be utilized.

This product is built per order, please allow 6-8 weeks for order completion. This time can vary by season, if completion time is crucial, please contact ORS before ordering.
